women’s health

Essential oils are for everyone - men, women, kids, babies, even pets. But since I am focusing on the women, here are some main categories we women need support in. It's a beautiful thing to be able to help our bodies naturally without putting unnecessary ingredients in them/on them.

Hormones

Obviously, both men & women have hormones but with women in particular - the surges & declines of all of the hormones is a lot to be balanced. The endocrine system is super important and controls all of the different hormones composed of a number of important organs & glands throughout our body. Hormones are essential for every activity of life. When certain hormones are high, they can actually block the production release of other hormones. So we need to start with these:
  1. Foundational support - the biggest factor in whether or not we'll have hormonal balance. It's not the traditional medical approach - chasing things around. Sleep, healthy clean eating, exercise, hydration, relaxation.
  2. Healthy liver function - your liver is the first thing to come to mind when you talk about hormonal balance. A healthy liver is the foundation of good hormonal health.
  3. Balanced metabolism & blood sugar - very important. Our brain controls our whole endocrine system. Having consistently steady blood sugar will give our brain what it needs to function optimally.
I can (and have) teach a whole class on women’s hormones, but here are the general oils to support happy hormones:
  • ClaryCalm - a blend made specifically for women. Use this roller to help balance moods, relieve period cramps, ease PMS symptoms, help with being flushed and needing to calm down
  • Frankincense - use this daily to help with that foundational level of health to bring balance to your mind & endocrine system, combat inflammation
  • Adaptiv - wonderful to help manage the effects of stress and anxious feelings
  • DDR Prime - very foundational, antioxidants are important because they help to eliminate free radicals and that is important with hormonal balance - DDR stands for Damaged DNA Repair
  • Metapwr - this line of products helps to support healthy blood sugar & metabolism
  • Phytoestrogen Essential Complex & Bone Nutrient Essential Complex - these two supplements will really support a woman's body through all of the stages of life. They are formulated to be taken together to be more effective, targeting multiple hormones in your body. This dynamic duo is for all different ages.
  • Zendocrine Detoxification Complex - this is a food based supplement that can be used daily, supports healthy cleansing & filtering functions of the liver, kidneys, colon, lungs, and skin
  • Thyroid Support roller - use this roller blend to apply to your neck daily

pregnancy - birth - babies

Give your body & baby the best care by giving what they need in the most safe and natural way possible. It's safe to use essential oils while pregnant because they are natural and work with the body. We don't want to put chemicals and synthetic lab created medicines in our body that have side effects, right? We want to do what is best to support our body and for our little one who's still forming.
Essential oils can be very beneficial for pregnancy, labor, and birth. Even during the postpartum period. They serve as a physical, emotional, and mental support.
The best book on this, that I love to recommend is this one: Essential Oils for Pregnancy Birth & Babies
I did a quick webinar on the top oils for pregnancy - including tips for each trimester, labor, birth, and post partum here: Pregnancy*Birth*Babies

Cleanse & restore

So why should we cleanse? We don't always get enough sleep, stay hydrated, eat healthy, and there are toxins in the air & in what we put on our skin. The way I look at it, if we take our car in for an oil change regularly, why aren't we cleansing out our own body on a regular basis?! Like hitting the reset button, if you will. If your cells are healthy & clean, it's an awesome thing. But if your cells are toxic, damaged, full of chemicals, too much caffeine - things that inhibit our health - our cells are still duplicating. And that's what's causing inflammation & disease. So that's why we cleanse, to make sure all of our cells are healthy.
How does cleansing help our body? Many ways. But the biggest way is this - our bodies have special elimination paths that are designed to get rid of toxins. These paths can get clogged up from our food, plastics, chemicals, etc. After they're cleaned, they are free flowing and helps to move things out.
Our skin is the main elimination pathway - consider this if you have skin issues, it's most likely a gut issue (leaky gut, overgrowth of candida, something your body is not able to get rid of) and it starts coming out in the form of eczema, psoriasis, acne, itchy scalp, etc. The lungs also help detoxify, it's how we clean our air coming in and going out. The lymph nodes, colon, liver, and kidneys are all on the detoxifying team as well.
Proper nutrition is going to aid your body in eliminating toxins. The phase one nutrients are basically your fruits & veggies, they're like the scrubbers for your body. Once your body takes in all those phase one nutrients, its moves into phase two proteins - which include bone broth, eggs, collagen, fish, organic meats. As the food moves through your body, they're able to produce a waste and eliminate through the kidneys, gallbladder, etc. If your liver doesn't have all of that to begin with, it doesn't know what to do and gets clogged up. You can have liver failure without every having drank alcohol! Toxins, medications, antibiotics, can all overload our liver over time.
It’s up to us to take care of our own bodies, so let's cleanse it and help it get on the right path to health, shall we?

toxin free living

Let's talk about ways to clean up our homes with essential oils and other great natural products.
There is so much junk in cleaning products & personal care products:
  • Phthalates - are known to disrupt the endocrine system and are commonly found in "fragrances".
  • Perc - found in spot/stain removers and dry cleaning products. It's a known neurotoxin and probable carcinogen.
  • Triclosan - is a potent aggressive antibacterial agent that started out in hospitals, being used to sterilize surgical equipment, and from there they put it in so many things, including soaps. The problem is, this has contributed to drug resistant organisms flourishing. So we have this bacteria growing stronger and more resistant to our antibiotics.
  • Chlorine - found in cleaners and is a respiratory irritant and can be a serious thyroid disruptor.
  • Sodium hydroxide - found in cleaners
Essential oils are huge components on getting toxins out of our homes. You get the amazing smell when you're cleaning, but they are also very germ killing. Replacing toxic things in your home is a process, so go easy on yourself and swap things out little by little. It's much better to make changes periodically, than to get paralyzed by being overwhelmed and not do anything at all. You can do this!
