the action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth.
In today's world, deceit seems to be abounding, so we need to ask God for extra wisdom & discernment for sure. Deceit can be intertwined into everything from the news to google to politicians to the pastor at your church. Yeah, I said it.
The Bible teaches us:
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. - 1 Peter 2:1
For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. - 2 Cor. 11:13
There is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes,
when he finds out his iniquity and when he hates. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; he has ceased to be wise and to do good. - Ps. 36:2-3
He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence. - Ps. 101:7
So let’s not be tricked by seducing spirits, shall we? You may be asking.....how?
Stay in the Word. Read your Bible regularly, get fed from it, ask God what book/chapter to study. By studying the Word, you'll be training your senses to rightly discern and you'll be able to spot a counterfeit. In other words, study the real so you'll know the fake.
Stay humble & teachable. Ask Holy Spirit to teach you, direct your paths, give you extra wisdom & discernment.
Know your enemy. Your enemy is not the people, but the spirit behind the people. We do not war against flesh & blood. (Eph. 6:12)
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
Here is a list of things that are NOT from God:
ANY religion that does NOT recognize the lordship & sonship of Jesus Christ as the son of God, who died for our sins & rose again & is now seated on the right hand of the Father, and does not recognize that we have direct access to Jesus through the shedding of His blood, the redemption of all sins, and doesn't recognize that we are now temples of the Holy Spirit that is now on the earth, guiding believers in spirit and in truth. (Some examples of such religions: Jehovah Witness, Scientology, Buddhism, Hinduism, Catholicism, Muslim, Freemasonry, Mormonism, Christian Science, etc.)
